When adding a small amount of Soluble Oak™, one will immediately notice an astounding change in mouthfeel.  Whichever the beverage, this mouthfeel transformation seems to be consistent. For example, with a small dosage, it is easy to transform the harshness of young tequila or bourbon into something silky soft (immolating a nicely aged product).  Young wine with a small dosage can become smooth and silky.  Craft beer can become nicely rounded, giving a sense of wholeness and increasing the drinkability.

Beyond changing the mouthfeel, adding a little more Soluble Oak™ will begin to bring out the pleasing and delicate properties of White Oak (such as vanilla, cinnamon, crème brulee and oakiness).  The more one adds, the more pronounced these notes become.  But proceed caution, one can overdose.

This ability to choose the desired effect of your beverage (be it just changing the mouthfeel, or both changing the mouthfeel and bringing in the pleasing authentic presence of oak), is groundbreaking, and gives you control the desired outcome.

Most dosages are somewhere between .01 – .09 ml per 100 ml of your beverage.  Typically, the lighter the beverage (the least robust), the less Soluble Oak is needed.  For example, a Pilsner or Chardonnay generally needs very little Soluble Oak.  However, with a hearty stout beer, not much Soluble Oak™ is needed to change the mouthfeel, but much more is needed to bring out the oak palette.

We encourage you to use these dosing parameters as mere guidelines, and to always test Soluble Oak with you product to determine dosing (and decide if you just want a change in mouthfeel, or a change in mouthfeel with a pleasing oak presence).

Only a small portion of the alcoholic beverage touches the actual barrel. Barrel design has been around for hundreds of years. The design is highly inefficient. Most of the barrel is not even used for imparting flavor. Soluble Oak™ uses 80% less wood than traditional barrels. That is an 80% carbon footprint reduction.

Soluble Oak™ can also extend the live of old barrels and revitalize old/neutral barrels. After 4 years, barrels impart little additional oak flavor (though oxygenation and esterification continue from within the barrel). Soluble Oak™ can re-vitalize and extend the life of tired neutral barrels by replenishing those pure essential oils and compounds which have leached from prior usage. However, most Soluble Oak™ users bypass the barrel system all together, and use it strictly in finished products. Our partners are concerned about the environment, and feel great as leaders promoting green alternatives which significantly reduce carbon emissions. Manufacturers can proudly use the Soluble Oak™ seal on their products.

Soluble Oak™ is a Social Purpose Corporation meeting the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility.  After processing, 100% of the oak is repurposed into other products (including the production of activated carbon and use as a soil additive for water conservation).

Oak barrels are often made from old growth oak trees, well over 100 years.  Please take this opportunity to learn this (little known) wasteful production method.  Learn more about Sustainable Oak.
